The Mazahuas called Monarch Butterflies 'daughters of the sun': sent by the gods, they descended from heaven presenting themselves as the souls of their ancestors.
This collection tells the story of the Monarch Butterfly's passage through Mexico, represented in three parts:
Thefirst part, a white pearl mounted on a Mexican Sterling Silver chain. This represents the chrysalis: the cocoon in which the first generation of the Monarch Butterfly develops, this first generation is the one that begins the very expected journey of up to 5,000 km to reach Mexican territory.
The second part is an abstraction of the branch of the 'Pino Michoacano' (pinus devoniana), a Mexican native tree and an important part of the Monarch's habitat during its stay through our country.
The third part is the Monarch Butterfly as we have appreciated them so many times during the months they spend in our sanctuaries: a Monarch hanging from a branch.
