From the Nahuatl aboriginal language 'flower and cultivated field'.
Flower Milpa.
These jewels made out of Mexican sterling silver, tell the story, in a unique way and as a tribute, of the channels of Xochimilco and both the historical and current importance, of this place for Mexican history.
These canals are the last that remain of the extensive transportation system that the Aztecs created as they are also the place where the Aztec Gods, Xochipilli, prince of flowers and Xochiquetzal, flower of the rich feather, were worshiped.
The first part of the collection alludes to a 'Chinampa'. The 'Chinampas' are the ancient wetland agriculture system whose origin dates back over 900 years ago, when the 'Nahua' society flourished in the basin of Mexico. The Necklace made out of Mexican sterling silver, has grooves that emulate the texture of wood.
The second part consists of a 'Rosa Beige' (Beige Rose) petal, a flower originally from 'Xochimilco' that was given as an offering to the Mexican Virgin; Guadalupe, and it's still this flower that traditionally adorns her feet.
